  • Year 5/6 - Pirates of the Curry Bean

    Thu 18 Jul 2019

Last week the Year 5/6 children wowed audiences with their performances of Pirates of the Curry Bean. The children had worked really hard on learning lines, dances, songs, stage directions and creating amazing backdrops and props.

Both performances were excellent with the children's singing being a particular highlight. Well done to every child who played their part in putting on such a great performance and also all the staff who helped them deliver such a fantastic show!

  • Quad Kids, Boccia and Football

    Mon 15 Jul 2019

The final week of school competitions for this academic year was a busy one at St John's.

On Wednesday, we took a team of ten Year 2 children to compete in the KS1 Quad Kids tournament. The children had to complete two running activities, a jump and a throw. All of their points were then added together to create a team total. All of the children did really well and we managed to finish 3rd overall!

Then on Thursday, we took two Year 5/6 teams to compete at the Basingstoke 5-a-side tournament at Power League. Both teams played really well both against each other and schools from across Basingstoke. Our 'B' Team finished 7th Overall with the 'A' team finishing 4th. Well done ot all who have represented the school at football throughout the year.

Finally on Friday, we took 8 Year 5/6 children to the Boccia and New Age Curling competition. This is only the second time we have entered this sport and the children did extremely well, working as a team and eventually winning the competition. Well done to all involved.

  • Cricket and Rounders

    Mon 08 Jul 2019

Last week was another busy sporting week at school.

On Wednesday, St Joseph's School from Aldershot visited us to play in the next round of the Hampshire U11 cricket tournament. Our team played really well, the bowling in particular being of a very high standard. Unfortunately, we were not quite able to chase down St Joseph's score and so were eliminated from the competition. Well done to all the children that have represented the school throughout our summer cricket matches.

On Friday, we took two teams to the Basingstoke rounders tournament at Costello. Our B team finished third in their group and then played two further matches, winning one and losing one to finish 6th overall. The A team won all of their group games and qualified as winners of their group. They then went on to win their semi-final before narrowly losing in the final to finish 2nd overall. Well done to all the children involved for representing the school so well.

  • Young Interpreter's Conference

    Tue 02 Jul 2019

St John's Young Interpreters went to QMC last Friday for the annual Young Interpreter's Conference run by EMTAS.

This year's theme was fables and all seven of our young interpreters took part in the different workshops throughout the day. A bonus workshop was given by a professional interpreter Eneida Garcia Villanueva.

A rewarding and fun day was had by all!
