  • Primary School Music Festival

    Fri 28 Jun 2019

This week our choir and orchestra performed for two nights at the Anvil concert hall as part of the Basingstoke Primary School Music event. They were part of approximately 400 children who worked hard to produce an excellent concert.

A special mention must go to Evie Roodhouse, who opened the concert with a great solo. A huge thank you must also go to Mr Gardner who has given up lunchtimes and after school sessions to rehearse both the orchestra and choir. He also sung his way through the two concerts this year. Without his extra commitment and passion for music, we wouldn’t be able to offer such a fantastic opportunity to the children.

Well done to all who took part and put on such a fantastic show!

  • Hampshire Games

    Fri 21 Jun 2019

Yesterday we took 30 children, split across three teams, to the Hampshire Games!

The Hampshire Games are the culmination of the sporting year and are an opportunity for the best teams from each district to compete against each other. The standard of competition is incredibly high.

The athletics team qualified after finishing second in the Basingstoke event and competed against 19 other schools yesterday. All the children took part in a 75m sprint, a howler throw, a long jump and then a 600m race. Each of these events scored points for the team. After a full day of competition, the children had scored really well and finished 10th. It is a fantastic achievement as this means the team were the 10th best in the whole of Hampshire.

The tri-golf team also finished second in the Basingstoke event and qualified for the Hampshire games. They competed against 12 other schools across a range of golf skills, again scoring points for the team. They played really well across the skills and finished 6th Overall, beating the team that had previously won the Basingstoke competition!

Finally, a team of 12 Year 3/4 children competed in the multi-skills festival, this was the first time a Basingstoke school had competed at this event. The children completed a range of skills but unfortunately, the afternoon events were cancelled due to the rain. All the children still had a fantastic time!

Well done to everyone who represented the school and upheld not only the school values but also those of the Hampshire Games (determination, passion, respect, honesty, teamwork and self-belief)!

  • Girl's Cricket

    Wed 19 Jun 2019

On Tuesday, the girl's cricket team took part in the Basingstoke district cricket festival. We were placed in a group alongside three other teams and played each of them throughout the morning.

Despite some horrible weather all of the morning group games were played and the girls managed one win to finish third in their group. Unfortunately, a third place play off against the third place team from the other group was prevented by the poor weather. Well done to everyone that took part and represented the school so well.

  • Sports Day

    Fri 14 Jun 2019

On Friday 24th May, we held our annual sports day. In the morning the whole school completed a range of sporting activities representing their teams. Everyone had a great time and the final results were very close between all four teams.

This morning in assembly, we announced the winners as Green Team and they are the first name on our new sports day shield pictured below. Also pictured holding the shield are the Year 6 Green Team captains.

Well done to everyone that took part!
