  • Indoor Athletics

    Wed 23 Jan 2019

Yesterday afternoon twelve Year 5 and 6 children visited Cranbourne to compete in the indoor athletics tournament qualifiers against seven other schools.

The children all had to compete in running races along with other events such as triple jump, long jump and speed bounce to name a few. The children earned points for each event and then the whole team's points were added together.

The children all did really well and St John's finished 3rd overall meaning we qualify for the finals day in March. Well done to all those children involved!

  • Team Table Tennis - Zone FInal

    Wed 23 Jan 2019

On Saturday Ben, Louis, Jake and Hayden traveled to London to compete in the zone final of the team table tennis competition. The boys were representing both the school and Hampshire having won the county finals in November.

The boys were placed in a group alongside South Water Juniors from Surrey and Earls Hall Primary from Southend-on-Sea. After South Water lost their first match to Earls Hall a win for St John's would put them through to the final. The boys duly delivered with an 8-0 win. The final group match was played on the 2012 London Olympic tables and after a defeat it meant St John's finished second in the group and had to play Amherst Primary School from Kent in the semi-finals.

After a close contest Amherst were victorious and progressed onto the final against Earls Hall and will travel to Bristol to play in the next round.

We are incredibly proud of the boys and what they have achieved, doing both themselves and St John's proud.

  • Individual Table Tennis

    Tue 15 Jan 2019

Today 6 boys and 6 girls traveled to Aldworth to compete in the Under 11 Individual Table Tennis Competition. They were placed in groups along with children from; St Mary's, Kings Furlong, Great Binfields, Park View and St Bede's. The winners and runners up of each group then went onto a knock-out tournament.

All the children from St John's did really well, playing some excellent table tennis. By the time the tournament had reached the semi-final stage three of the four children left in both the boys and girl's competition were from St John's.

In the girls competition Ava was beaten in the semi-final and received a bronze medal and the other semi-final was an all St John's affair with Grace beating Rose, who also received bronze. Grace then went on to compete in the final where after a valiant effort was beaten and received a silver medal. She will now go on to the county finals in Hampshire in February.

In the boys competition Ben was beaten in the first semi-final to also claim a bronze medal. The other semi-final was again an all St John's match with Jake beating Louis, who also received bronze. In a very close final, Jake won the first set but his opponent came back strong winning the next two and so the title. Jake won the silver medal and will also go on to the county finals.

The standard of table tennis was exceptionally high and we were very proud of all our players!
