Vision & Values
Our Vision
Learning, loving and Laughing is at the heart of all that we do at St John’s. Through our core Christian values of Love, Truth and Respect and our inter-disciplinary St John’s curriculum, we want children to have an 'excellent' education to enable them to believe in themselves and achieve their potential, while being equipped to become global citizens who show respect and compassion for everything in God’s world.
Our Core Christian Values.
These Christian Values form the basis of how we aim to achieve our vision. Each value is found in practice across the school. Our Values help inform our Christian understanding of God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Love
Selfless service to others – putting others before ourselves.
Love is a core value for our Church School because love is at the centre of Jesus' message.
Jesus commanded us "..that you love one another as I have loved you..." (John 13:34). The gospels teach us that Jesus love us so much that he died for us. Many of Jesus parables teach us about different types of love and the values of each individual person including ourselves.
We show a loving attitude when we put others before ourselves. God's love calls us to serve others freely without expectation of reward.
Respect
Valuing each other and celebrating our differences.
Respect is a core value of our Church school because we value each other and celebrate our differences.
In Matthew's gospel Jesus said "treat others as you would want them to treat you" (Matthew 7:12). Through his teachings and stories, Jesus shows us how to respect everyone.
We show this in school by valuing differences and showing tolerance towards each other. We need to have self respect this means honouring God, and our community, by living up to the image of God within ourselves.
Truth
Living with integrity; saying what we mean and meaning what we say.
Truth is a core a value of our church School; truth is about living with integrity.
In the gospel of John, Jesus declares that, 'I am the way, the truth & the life. No one comes to the Father except through me' (14.6). Jesus gives us the model to follow, his life of selflessness represents the truth of God.
It takes courage to the tell the truth & act with integrity. At St John's we show what we mean through our works and actions. Even when we are pressurised, or it is difficult, we find the courage to tell the truth.
