Bees Knees

Our 'home from home' After School Club at St John’s has been running since September 2009 and is well established.  We are proud to offer this facility to our school community for use during term times.  Bees Knees is open all week between 3.20pm and 6.00pm to help our parents and carers with childcare.  As we are a school run club we can offer familiar faces and a happy, relaxed, stimulating environment.

Although we offer a variety of fun activities, the children are given the freedom to organise their own play and a great range or resources is available to cater for all ages. We utilise the extensive school grounds and use these on a daily basis for the children to explore and play.

A healthy tea is provided within a social setting.

Some examples of the activities we provide are:

  • various art and craft activities including collage, drawing and painting
  • sports including football, rounders and kwik cricket
  • board games
  • use of computers
  • dressing-up
  • cookery
  • a quiet reading area to enjoy
  • constructive play
  • construction equipment

Bees Knees members thoughts about their club …

"Bees Knees (or after school club) is a very pleasant place, I know this as I have been going to Bees Knees every weekday.  All of the staff at Bees Knees are very kind and they will help you if you need it.  I personally think after school club is a wonderful place.  Also there are so many things to do including laptops, hama beads, woodland play, and the list goes on."  Vincent (Y6 last year)

"I like after school club because I can make things with hama beads and I can play in the woodlands."  Kobi (Yr 1)

"I enjoy after school club a lot because it is always fun and I can play with my friends.  The food is always delicious." Esme (Yr 6).
