Young Interpreters

We have implemented a Young Interpreters scheme which aims to provide additional support to pupils who are learning English as an Additional Language (EAL), their families and the other pupils at the school.

The scheme recognises the huge potential that exists within each school community, for pupils of all ages to use their skills and knowledge to support new learners of English, so that they feel safe, settled and valued from the start.

Each child taking part in the scheme attends training sessions at school so that they can understand their role better and think of ways to help and support new arrivals.

In June 2015, our Young Interpreters have had the fantastic opportunity to attend a conference at Queen Mary’s College. The pupils took part in a number of workshops including art, fashion, magic, sports, music, street dance and traditional dance.
