Table Tennis - Zone Finals

On Saturday the boys' and girls' table tennis teams travelled to Morpeth School in London to compete in the zone finals of table tennis. Having already been crowned Basingstoke and then Hampshire U11 champions this was a chance to compete against schools from across the South East.

In the boys' competition the six teams were placed into two groups with the top two from each group progressing to play a semi-final and then final. The boys' were placed in a group alongside St Andrews School from Rochester and Greenway Primary School from Berkhamsted. They played brilliantly in both matches, winning 5-3 and 6-2 respectively and going through to the semi-finals as group winners. In the semi-final they played the winners of the other Group - Earls Hall Primary School from Westcliff-On-Sea. In a very close match, that was level at the half way stage, the boys eventually lost out. They played incredibly well throughout and we are really proud of their third place finish.

In the girls' competition there were four schools who all played each other in a round robin tournament. Our girls' team had to have a last minute change to the squad with Erin from Year 2 kindly stepping in at the last minute. In the first match the girls played Greenway School and lost 6-2. Their second match was closer with the girls' being beaten 5-3 by Earls Hall. In their final game they managed to beat Culverstone Green Primary of Gravesend 6-2 so finished 3rd overall. Again the girls played incredibly well and in the correct spirit throughout.

Both teams did really well, both finishing 3rd overall in the zone. We are very proud of all their accomplishments!!
