On Monday, we took eight Year 3/4 children to Winklebury School to compete in the quad kids event against 5 other local schools. The children had to complete 4 events; a howler throw, a standing long jump, a 60m sprint and a 400m long distance run. The team did very well and competed in great spirits, managing to finish 3rd overall and claim bronze medals.
Then on Wednesday, 4 other schools visited St John’s to compete in the Year 1/2 quad kids event. The events were the same as the Year 3/4 event, with the exception of the sprint being 50m and the long distance run 300m. Again the children competed really well throughout all the activities and the scores between the schools were very close—with the leader changing multiple times throughout the afternoon. When all events had been completed we were delighted to find out St John’s had won the competition for the first ever time!!
During the Year 1/2 event we were also really pleased that a number of our Year 6 sports leaders took charge of scoring and officiating at the event and they did an amazing job.
Well done to everyone involved across both of these events!
