Badminton and Netball
After the half-term break we returned to school with a busy week of sporting action.
On Tuesday, we took two teams to Costello to participate in the Basingstoke Badminton competition. After lots of early morning practise both teams played really well. The children had to play a mixture of individual and doubles matches against other local schools. Our B team managed to qualify for the 3rd/4th place play off match, which they won and earned themselves bronze medals! The A team managed to go one step further qualifying for the final and then going on to win against Sherborne St John. This gave them gold medals and a place at the county finals in two weeks time!
Then on Thursday, our netball team visited Russell Howard to take part in the Basingstoke netball qualifiers against six other local schools. The team were placed in a group alongside three other teams and managed one win, one draw and one defeat. This put them through to the knock-out rounds of the competition. After being beaten in the semi-finals the team won their 3rd/4th place play-off match, finishing 3rd overall and qualifying for the Basingstoke finals day on March 19th.
Well done to everyone who represented the school sports teams this week and good luck to both teams in the next round of matches! Thanks to Ben Cummings and Mitch Lloyd for their time to help with practise and the competitions.
