Year 5/6 Sports Events This Week
Some of our Year 5/6 children have taken part in a series of friendly matches against Oakridge Junior School this week. These fixtures weren’t just about the games themselves – they were about learning new skills, building confidence, strengthening friendships and developing a real sense of teamwork. From cheering each other on from the side-lines to giving 100% effort on the field or court, our children showed incredible enthusiasm, determination and school spirit throughout.
Friday saw our boys’ football team in action for the very first time as a mixed Year 5/6 squad. Despite battling through wet and windy conditions, the boys gave it their all – encouraging one another, working hard for every ball, and showing brilliant teamwork throughout.
On Monday, our netball team travelled to Oakridge. For several players it was their very first taste of a netball match. After some early nerves, the team quickly found their rhythm, grew in confidence and began to really enjoy the game. We’re excited to see them continue this journey in the upcoming local schools’ netball league.
On Tuesday, we hosted Oakridge again, this time for a girls’ football match in far kinder weather! This was the first time the girls had played together as a team – and for a few, their first-ever match. They showed brilliant energy, determination and teamwork, scoring several well-worked goals and leaving the pitch full of smiles. Next week they’ll take on their first competitive fixture in the Girls’ Hampshire Cup.
We’re so proud of every single child who took part this week – you showed courage, enthusiasm and real team spirit. Thank you as well to all the parents and carers who came to cheer the teams on. Your support makes these moments even more special.
