Hello and Welcome to our St. John’s PTA page!
We are a group of like-minded parents and family members associated with the school who look to put on events and raise as much money to help enrich our children’s education and time at St. John’s School as we can.
We usually have lots of great events throughout the year including; school discos, Easter egg hunts, and fireworks but due to Covid-19 we have adapted our events – but that hasn’t stopped us! Every event is run and organised by a PTA (Parent Teacher Association) member and supported by lots of willing volunteers.
Sounds fun? We would love you to get involved. To join the PTA or to offer help for a specific event you can do one of the following; 1) Email the PTA with your contact details (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we will get in touch with you 2) If you know someone who is already on the PTA then approach them directly and they will add you into future communications.
If you have any amazing ideas for raising money within the national restrictions the PTA would love to hear about them. Just drop them an email (email@example.com).
If you are a parent of the school join us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/BasingstokePTA) for all the latest and up-to-date PTA news. We understand not everyone is on Facebook so we try to ensure all our communications are included in the weekly school newsletter (sent out on a Friday) and on this page.
Future Projects (updated June 2021)
Please sponsor our new MUGA!!!
There has been a tremendous response to the opportunity to sponsor 1m2 of our new MUGA being constructed over the upcoming summer holidays ready for the start of the new academic year in September 2021, so far nearly 100 squares have already been sponsored! As a reminder, in return for your sponsorship the name of the person/family/company will be inscribed on the ‘with thanks’ sign that will be erected on the fence once the work is completed, and you will receive a commemorative certificate. To select your square(s) and make your sponsorship please go to https://forms.gle/scn8GjciXH7UM1JT6 - please also pass on this unique opportunity to family, friends, colleagues, ex-pupils and any companies you think may be willing to support this project.
I’m sure you will agree this is a fantastic project that will benefit the children of St John’s school in so many ways and create a lasting legacy, so thank you for your support!
To keep the kids active over the summer holiday we have organised an Olympic Trail (similar to our ‘Searching for Stars’ event). You will need to follow the trail to locate all the Olympic Sports. But wait ………. one is missing! Can you work out which sport it is?
1) To download the instructions and the map - https://bit.ly/PTAOlympicTrail
2) To submit your answers: https://forms.gle/A3Jt1YNPfsBQw9DF7
3) To make your donation: https://localgiving.org/donation/stjohnspta
The recommended minimum donation is £2.50 but please give as much as you can towards projects to benefit the children of St. John's C of E Primary School.
'Krispy Kreme Event'
Thank you to all of you who purchased Krispy Kreme donuts in July 2021. We raised a total of £230 which is fantastic. I can see this event happening again the future!
‘Searching for Stars’
In February 2021 during half term over 70 families took part in our Searching for Stars event. The aim was to collect the letters located inside the ‘stars’ at each of the locations on the map and then decode the words. The event was open from 13th to 21st February.
We are pleased to announce that we raised over £650 which will go towards the purchase of wet play equipment for the school pupils.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and donated!
‘Virtual Race Night’
A HUGE thank you to everyone (participants and sponsors) who took part in our Virtual Race Night last week.
It was fantastic to see so many families taking part and enjoying their Friday night. We received some really
positive feedback which was well received by the PTA team. We are pleased to confirm that a total of £610 was raised!
The money will go towards our Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) project. This will be an exciting addition to our existing sports facilities at St. John's.
‘Happy Families Easter Hunt’
A HUGE thank you to everyone who took part in the Happy Families Easter Hunt! We are thrilled to announce that we raised a total
of £206 which will go towards the £10,000 target for our Multi Use Games Area (MUGA).
Congratulations to the winner of the Amazon voucher.
Outside of these events there are plenty of ways you can help raise money for the school. Please feel free to pass on these details to your family.
1. Play the Basingstoke & Deane Community Lottery
St. John's C of E School has signed up with the Basingstoke & Deane Community Lottery. 60% of ticket sales will go to good causes - 50% to our school and 10% to a fund supporting good causes in Basingstoke and Deane. Tickets for the lottery cost just £1 a week. Each ticket has a 1 in 50 chance to win a prize each week, with a top prize of £25,000! That’s a better chance of winning than the National Lottery or the Health Lottery.
Each ticket has six numbers and each number is between 0 and 9. There will be a draw every Saturday night when a six digit winning combination will be picked. Prizes will be given to players with tickets that match the first or last 2 to 6 numbers from the winning combination. Match all six and you win the jackpot!
So far we have sold 12 tickets of our 50 ticket goal. To sign up simply to go to: https://www.bandcommunitylottery.co.uk/support/st-johns-c-of-e-primary-school-pta
2. My Nametags
Name tags are essential for school and can significantly reduce the problem of lost property. My Nametags labels can be used on everything from uniforms to stationery, PE bags, lunchboxes, bottles or accessories. Simply adding a small, colourful label to clothing can help lost items be returned to their owner and save school staff hours in associated admin.
The PTA will generate a percentage from every order placed. Please use the school ID 22310 at the checkout - https://www.mynametags.com/
