KS1 football team finish 2nd
The KS1 school football team traveled to Power League on Friday to take part in the KS1 football competition.
After being drawn in group 3 the team won all three of their group games - leaving them top of the group and with a bye in the first round of the knock-out competition.
In the quarter finals the team played really well to overcome strong opposition and reach the semi-finals 3-1. Here they played a school they had earlier beat in the group stages but this time the match was a much closer affair. St John's were 2-0 down within a minute of the kick-off and had to show great resilience and determination to come back into the match. At the end of normal time the score was 4-4. Into extra time and St John's again found themselves behind but managed to find an equaliser moments before the end. This took the game to penalties. After the allotted 3 penalties each the two sides still could not be separated and so the game entered sudden death with St John's finally emerging victorious.
In the final against Rucstall both teams played really well and despite leading for much of the match Rucstall eventually took the trophy with a 2-1 win.
Well done to everyone in the school team who did so well representing the school and playing together as a team.
