We recently hosted a Junior Play Leader Workshop led by Mr. Jeffs, which brought together students from six other schools. The workshop aimed to develop key leadership, communication, and organisational skills in our young participants, focusing on promoting fair play and inclusion.

The morning session focused on teaching the children how to become effective leaders. They learned how to communicate clearly, organise activities, and create an inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy. The afternoon was all about putting those skills into practice. The children were divided into small groups and given the chance to design their own playground activities, which they later led during an outdoor session.

We are incredibly proud of the 10 students from our school who participated. Each of them has since successfully led a lunchtime activity, encouraging their peers to engage in active and fun play. In recognition of their efforts, they were awarded their Play Leader badges during our celebration assembly.

These Play Leaders will continue to lead activities each week, ensuring that something exciting is happening on the playground daily. On wet play days, they will take their leadership skills to Year R and KS1, supporting younger students and fostering a positive play environment indoors.
