Welcome

t is a great pleasure and privilege to introduce myself as the headteacher of St John’s Church of England Primary School. We are a proud church school with strong links to All Saints Church, and our Christian ethos is reflected in every aspect of our work and relationships.

I warmly welcome you to our website, where I hope you’ll gain a true sense of our ‘Learning, Loving and Laughing’ community. Of course, nothing compares to experiencing our school in person, so I would be delighted for you to visit and see our wonderful children and staff learning, exploring and thriving together. St John’s is a genuinely active community—you will see parents, governors, teachers, support staff and children working side by side at many points in the day.

Children begin their learning journey with us in Reception at the age of four and leave as confident, resilient young people ready for the next stage of their education at the end of Year 6.

I am especially proud of our extensive school grounds, which are fully enjoyed by children during playtimes and are used to enrich their learning through outdoor exploration, physical activity and environmental study.

Our weekly newsletters—available on the website—offer a window into just how vibrant, busy and joyful life at St John’s truly is.

I would also like to share the educational values that underpin every decision I make and shape the experience we offer every child:

Firstly, I believe every child deserves a personalised, high‑quality education that nurtures their academic, social and emotional development, enabling them to make strong progress in all areas.

Secondly, I want our children to grow into compassionate individuals who are accepting of others, make moral choices and become active, thoughtful global citizens of the 21st century.

Thirdly, meaningful learning must be engaging, enjoyable and rich with opportunities for curiosity—and, most importantly, it should be fun.

Fourthly, technology plays an essential role in preparing children for the future. At St John’s, we embrace digital tools to enhance learning, foster creativity and build confidence. Equally important, we teach children how to use technology responsibly, safely, and in moderation. Our curriculum helps pupils develop digital resilience, understand online safety, make thoughtful choices, and balance screen time with real‑world interaction and exploration.

Finally, this vision can only be achieved through true partnership. The collective effort of staff, parents, governors and children is at the heart of everything we do. I look forward to working closely with you to support your child’s journey.

These values are proudly summarised in our school strap line: ‘Learning, Loving and Laughing Together’, which guides our decisions, shapes our relationships and inspires our daily work.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time to discuss any aspect of our wonderful school. You will always be welcome at St John’s.

Yours sincerely,
Mrs Angela Nicholls
