Homework Book

Homework is set on a Friday and due back at the school the following Wednesday although handing homework in earlier is fine.  This is to enable teachers to mark homework before it is returned the following week and to allow families to either complete homework over the weekend or during the week, depending upon busy weekends.

Please complete all homework in this book unless otherwise stated by the class teacher.

Spelling tests will be on a Friday and therefore it might be necessary to make a note of spellings separately at home although we aim to have all spellings available on the school website.

Feedback on how your child is doing with their homework can be very useful to the class teacher.  Please use your Homework Book as a method of communication between home and school.

There will be three optional WAHOs each year connected to our termly Curriculum Weeks.  The Christmas WAHO will also be distributed annually so we are able to decorate our school Christmas tree with the children’s creativity.

For further information and tips on homework please see the information on the Hampshire website which can be found here – http://www3.hants.gov.uk/education/hias/learning-behaviour-attendance/attendance-guidance-for-parents.htm

Year 6

At St John’s we strive to prepare the children to become independent life-long learners and for Year 6 managing regular homework is an essential skill to prepare them for their transition to secondary school.

Maths homework will be handed in on Wednesday.  English homework can be completed by hand or using a computer.  This will be collated over a half-term to produce a booklet that will be marked by the class teacher and returned at the end of each term.
